PUR Projet

PUR Projet works with companies to regenerate the ecosystems they depend upon. While empowering local communities to operate long-term socio-environmental projects, PUR Projet helps companies strengthen their supply chains through agroforestry, land restoration and sustainable agricultural practices. PUR Projet plants native trees with its corporate partners in and around coffee parcels in Latin America, Africa and Southeast Asia. Joining the Sustainable Coffee Challenge in 2017 furthered their commitment to combatting deforestation and providing additional income for coffee farmers.

Update

July 2022

By the end of 2020, PUR Projet along with its roasters partners [including Nestlé Nespresso, Louis Dreyfus Foundation, Alter Eco] has planted 4,4M trees in a variety of coffee landscapes to support climate resiliency and producing communities around the world. The planting has supported roughly 15,000 farmers in Guatemala, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Uganda and Indonesia.

In 2021, 3 of the countries mentionned above were audited against a carbon standard, i.e. Reforestation Solidaire or VCS, that allowed to check on the carbon sequestration performance achieved to date. They show that a cumulative sequestration of 95,000 tCO2e by the end of 2020 thanks to the reforestation efforts in these 3 countries.

PUR Projet will be continuing its efforts towards coffee agroforestry and landscape restoration by re-stating an increased commitment for 2025.
